EG1 50 Cent - Just A Lil Bit TBC

ACT: 50 Cent
YEAR: 2005
DIRECTOR: Benny Boom
GENRE: Hip Hop
MAIN AUDIENCE: M 15-24

Relationship between visuals and lyrics:

There isn't a relationship between the visuals and lyrics really in this music video apart from the performance aspect.

Performance, Concept or Narrative:

The video follows both performance and narrative, the performance aspect is obvious because you can see 50 cent performing 'looking' which links in with the seductive theme of the song. The narrative however is connoted by conventions you would find in a film such as titles as the music video begins titles appear naming the characters.

Start Treatment:

Star treatment is used to single out 50 cents character the ways in which it is signified would again be the costumes of the artist which i have found is quite a regular method to use when star treatment has been applied because the costumes used make the artist stand out to the other characters in the music video.

Representations:

Sexuality representations are made very clear in this video, the male character (50 Cent) is shown to be dominant over the female members of the cast, as the leader of the pack where as the females take a back seat. The representation of gender is also apparent this is signified again by the costumes ass the girls are dressed in binkinis ect. to portray them as a kind of sex symbol.

Genre Characteristics:

To me this is a stereotypical hip hop/rap music video portraying the artist to be a 'pimp'. Signifiers such as the costumes and elements of the mise en scene connote him to be of lots of wealth and power.
